  • ELFI (ELectronic Research Funding Information System): ELFI is a database that provides information relevant to research funding possibilities from national and international funding organizations
  • Bundesverband Deutscher Stiftungen (Association of German Foundations): database of german foundations, which award research funding; listed by type of funding
  • Deutsches Stiftungszentrum (German Foundation Centre): database of foundations supporting various research projects
  • European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO): Short-Term Fellowships support research exchange between laboratories of up to three months or Long-Term Fellowships fund international post-doctoral research visits for a period of up to two years
  • DFG Research Fellowships: for a defined project in a country other than Germany in order to learn new research techniques or to bring a large project to a conclusion. Research fellowships are granted for a minimum of three months up to a maximum of two years
  • DFG International Programmes: funding opportunities with an international component; DFG supports international research cooperation in all of its funding programmes, researchers may apply for necessary funds in addition to the project funding itself
  • Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) funds bilateral exchange of scientists, international post-doctoral research visits for a period from three to six months or active participation of German scientists in congresses and lectures abroad (congress and lecture journey program)
  • Leopoldina Postdoc Scholarship: postdoctoral scholarship offering recipients the opportunity to perform their own independent project in an international renowned research institute
  • Alexander von Humboldt Foundation: Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship for research outside Germany; the academic host must be part of the Humboldt Network or have been granted a specified international academic award
  • Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds: travel grants for experimental projects in basic biomedical research for doctoral and postdoctoral researchers up to three months; worldwide
